Freshman Nevaeh Cassidy tries softball for first time

When freshman Nevaeh Cassidy wanted to try something new, softball was the first thing that seemed to catch her attention. She found an interest in softball, due to her brother Keagyn.

“I’ve always wanted to play a sport, and my brother plays baseball. I figured out it’s actually not that hard, so I decided to try it.” Cassidy said.

It was over the summer going into her freshman year whenever she found this interest. She then went out for the team and made it.

When softball was too difficult for her, she thought about quitting, but stayed because of her family.

“I basically stayed because I wanted to make my dad proud and just be a good example to my younger sisters,” Cassidy said.

Her dad is one of her biggest fears. She always wants to live up to her own expectations as well as her fathers.

“Not doing the best I can and my dad yelling at me afterwards for a bad play or not hitting the ball or whatever,” Cassidy said.

Cassidy does not plan on going on to professional softball whenever she graduates. She plans on moving to Texas or somewhere out west and going right into the workforce.
