Dipping in BBQ a freshly peeled banana is being dunked in BBQ. “Eating bananas and BBQ is something others find odd, but I love it and I have been eating it ever since that dare,” Lear said.

Multiple students around the school like different food combinations that others might not know about.

“I was hanging out with my friends, and I was bored. I decided to try something new. Last year I started to eat Doritos and vanilla ice cream together, and I loved it so much it might seem odd, but it’s really, really good. It tastes like cheesy ice cream. Yes, my friends look at me really weird when I eat it around them,” sophomore Megan Shultz said.

Shultz feels that students and other people should try eating Doritos and ice cream together.

“I try to encourage people to try and eat ice cream with Doritos, but they always turn down my offer. My closest friends know I eat those whenever I can. If I could eat them on a daily basis, I would. If you ever see vanilla ice cream and Doritos laying around, you should definitely try it. You might like it; you never know until you try it,” Shultz said.

While Shultz likes ice cream and Doritos, sophomore Bron Mosley likes his pickles with peanut butter.

“I started eating weird food combinations when I was 13. Some of my friends find me weird for eating pickles with peanut butter,” Mosley said.

Another combination Mosley likes is applesauce with cottage cheese.

“When I was younger, my mom had me try applesauce and cottage cheese because she used to eat it all the time when she was younger as well. I thought it was strange at first, but as soon as I tried it, I really liked it,” Mosley said.

Another food combination started as a dare when junior Myah Lear sat at her lunch table with her friends her fifth grade year.

“When I was in fifth grade I started eating bananas with BBQ sauce. I was sitting at my fifth grade lunch table one day and my friends were daring people to eat weird things, and I loved eating basically everything with BBQ sauce. So my friend dared me to eat it with BBQ sauce, and I loved it,” Lear said.

Eating bananas and barbecue sauce isn’t a daily thing for Lear.

“People definitely find it strange, and I’ll be eating my lunch then eating the combination and people at my lunch table will be staring at me. I try to convince my friends to eat the bananas and BBQ together, but they just refuse to. Honestly I don’t always have bananas at home, but when I do, I’ll eat the combination once or twice a week,” Lear said.
