Announcements for 10/27

Group picture day is coming up Monday, October 31 st . Please see announcements, check
with your adviser, or check the list posted outside room B130 for your group’s assigned
photo time. Students must report to the auditorium at the assigned time for the group. If
students miss the photo, they will not be in the yearbook photo. See Mrs. Vanish with any
questions.

Attention Astronomy Club: Our after-school pizza party to celebrate Haunted Fort Roberdeau
will be held this Monday, Halloween, after school from 4:00-5:30PM. Bring your costumes,
because we will then head to the B Building to help with the first ever Student Council
Trick-or-Treat night for the community. No permission slip is needed, but please pick up a
Parent Information sheet outside of the Planetarium this week, so your parents know how to
plan for Monday. Thanks, and hope to see you there!

A reminder to teachers and 9 th grade students that the CTC assembly for 9 th grade students
who have 4 th period class in the A building is today. Ninth grade teachers should escort their
classes immediately after attendance and stay with them, while teachers who teach multiple
grade levels should send their students to the front of the middle section of the auditorium.

Attention Seniors interested in becoming an Operating Engineer or Mechanic: Information
about the Western Pennsylvania Operating Engineers Joint Apprenticeship & Training
Programs is now available outside of the guidance office. Deadline to pick up applications is
December 9 th . Testing and Interview will be in January and February 2023 with selection by
April 1 st and training begins April, May and June 2023. Don’t miss out on this fantastic
opportunity.

Attention Seniors: The Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA is offering 11
scholarships totaling $12,500 for graduating seniors going to college or vocational training.
You must have a diagnosis of epilepsy/seizure disorder from a physician. Please stop by the
guidance office literature rack to pick up more information about these scholarships! Deadline
is April 3, 2023, no exceptions!

Beginning on Monday, October 31 st , AAHS After Hours Tutoring will be available for any
student four days each week in the AAHS library from 2:45-3:45PM. National Honor Society
students will be available to tutor students in all subject areas using the following schedule:
Monday – Social Studies and Health
Tuesday – English and World Languages
Wednesday – Mathematics
Thursday – Science and Computer Sciences
Students will be asked to sign in and sign out, along with noting the subject area in which they
are seeking assistance. Those students who need a quiet place to complete homework may
also attend. Tutoring will not take place on days when we have no school, nor on Thursdays
before a long weekend with Friday off. Please consider taking advantage of this academic
support!
