Attention students: February marks the time of the year for Student Council’s annual Cereal
Drive. All boxes are donated to our local Saint Vincent DePaul food pantry. This is an easy way
to help support your local community, so make sure to bring in cereal throughout February
and drop them in the large bins located by the main entrance. Thank you.
Attention Seniors: On Friday, February 10 th during 1 st period, Provine will be here to take the
Class of 2023 Senior Group Photo. You will be called down to the Field House. Please check
your email in the next few days for more information. If you are interested in purchasing a
copy, envelopes will be available in your reporting room next week or outside of B120.
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Krispy Kreme Fundraiser forms to benefit the Class of 2023
and Class of 2024 are available outside of Mrs. Dumm’s room, B120. Please help support our
prom and other class activities. Order forms and money are due by Monday, February 13 th .
Attention Baseball players not currently playing a winter sport: There will be open gyms for
any 9 th thru 12 th grader who is interested in trying out for high school baseball this year. The
first two open gyms will be held on Tuesday, February 7 th and Thursday, February 9 th . The
open gyms will be held from 3:15 PM – 5:00 PM for grades 11-12. The workout for grades
9-10 will be held from 5:00 PM – 6:45 PM. These workouts will take place at the Washington
& Jefferson Elementary Building. Players are asked to use the 4 th Street lower entrance only.
Please bring a glove and a bat if possible. A coach will be there to let you in.
Attention Seniors who will be attending Juniata College: If you have an interest in
instrumental music, then be sure to stop by the guidance office and pick up information on
how to apply for one of the many scholarships they are offering.
Attention Seniors interested in agriculture, botany, forestry, floral design, and the like, stop
by the guidance office literature rack to pick up information about scholarships being
offered by the Blair Garden Club. Deadline is April 5 th .
Attention Seniors: The Altoona Area High School Alumni Association will once again award
ten $1,000 scholarships to qualifying students. Please stop by the literature rack outside the
guidance office no later than the end of the day on Thursday, March 2 nd .
Seniors, are you planning a career in a Healthcare-focused field? If so, you will want to stop
by the guidance office to pick up some information on applying for PHN Charitable Foundation
Scholarships. Deadline is March 31 st .
Anyone with information regarding Mickey Nedimyer’s whereabouts is asked to contact
Detective Wilson at the Altoona Police Department. Mickey has been missing for many weeks
and we are requesting any information that may lead to finding him.
