The Mountain Echo Newspaper staff will be selling Valentine’s Day candy grams in the cafeteria through today for the cost of $1. They will be delivered on Tuesday, February 14 during homeroom.
Attention Seniors: Provine will be here today during first period to take the Class of 2023 Senior Group Photo. You will be called down to the Field House. Please check your email for more information. If you are interested in purchasing a copy, envelopes will be available in your reporting room or outside of B120.
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Krispy Kreme Fundraiser forms to benefit the Class of 2023 and Class of 2024 are available outside of Mrs. Dumm’s room, B120. Please help support our prom and other class activities. Order forms and money are due by Monday, February 13th.
Attention Seniors: The Altoona Rotary Cub is offering a $1,500 Scholarship for graduating seniors. Stop by the literature rack outside the guidance office to pick up an application. Deadline to enter is March 20th. Winners will be announced in mid-April and checks will be awarded at a luncheon in May.
Attention all Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors – Have you done any community service work in the past year? Community Service performed for the school course doesn’t count. If so, you could win $200 from The Challenge Program! We don’t have many applications yet so don’t assume you have not done enough community service to win. Applications for the Community Service awards are available outside the Attendance Office. Applications are due by April 14th.
Attention Seniors: The Central PA Community Foundation has provided us with 21 different scholarship opportunities for seniors going forward with post-secondary education. Each of the 21 scholarships has a specific qualification list. Stop by the guidance office literature rack and look for the RED BINDER. Here you can find a listing of each scholarship offered by The Central PA Community Foundation as well as a short description of the qualifications needed. There is a complete listing of Scholarships found on www.centralpagives.org. Deadline is March 10th, no exceptions!
Are you a high school junior who excels academically despite facing financial challenges? If so, please visit www.QuestBridge.org to learn about their 2023 College Prep Scholars Program where you can receive special awards and opportunities, including a full scholarship to a college summer program and up to $1,000 for a new laptop and other educational resources. Deadline for students to apply is March 22nd.
If you are interested in attending virtual courses over the summer in Coding, then this announcement is for you: “Girls who Code” has announced two free virtual programs offered to current female students in 9th through 11th grade. Applications that are received prior to February 16th will receive priority consideration, however, regular-decision applications are due by March 24th, 2023. Attention Seniors: The Class of 1971 is awarding a $900 scholarship. To be eligible for this award, the applicant should be a direct descendant (child, grandchild or great-grandchild) of a 1971 graduate, must plan on attending a local college (PSU, Mount Aloysius, Saint Francis, or Penn Highlands) and complete a short essay. Stop by the literature rack outside of the guidance office to pick up an application. Deadline is March 3rd.
