Attention Students and Staff: The Friends of Rachel Club is having a hanger drive for the
month of February. We are refreshing the Friends of Rachel closet where students can shop
for clothing and other necessities for FREE. We are desperately in need of WHITE PLASTIC
hangers. If you can help us, please drop off the hangers in the library. Help us make the
Friends of Rachel closet a great place to recycle and reuse while at the same time saving our
environment.
Attention Juniors and Seniors: If you sold Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, the orders will be
delivered on Thursday, March 2 nd from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the AAHS Main Entrance
Lobby. Please make necessary arrangements as the doughnuts are perishable.
Help your fellow student journalists celebrate Scholastic Journalism Week. Listen or read the
announcements all week to recognize the outstanding journalists in your school. Today’s
student journalist shout-out goes to Cassidy Klock and Danielle Bardalang. These two unsung
heroes of the newsroom produce your school newspaper and yearbook.
Attention Seniors applying for Scholarships: The February 28 th deadline is fast approaching
for submitting applications for the Chirdon Memorial Scholarship which is offered to
graduating seniors who are cancer survivors and/or graduating seniors who are orchestra
students. Another important date to remember is the March 1 st deadline for The First
Commonwealth Bank’s scholarship for students who have made a difference in their
communities and The Hermine Solt Scholarship for students entering a business-related field.
Don’t wait until the last minute. Get your applications in today!
Attention Seniors: Just a quick reminder that the deadlines for the AAHS Alumni Association
Scholarship, the Dawn Morden Scholarship and the Class of 1971 Scholarship are fast
approaching. If you are applying for one of these scholarships be aware that the deadline is
Friday, March 3 rd !
Attention all Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors: Have you done any community service work
in the past year? Community Service performed for the school course doesn’t count. If so,
you could win $200 from The Challenge Program! We don’t have many applications yet so
don’t assume you have not done enough community service to win. Applications for the
Community Service awards are available outside the Guidance Office. Applications are due by
April 14 th .
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Interested in earning a free tux for prom from Men’s
Wearhouse? If so, sign up to be a Prom Ambassador. As a Prom Ambassador, all you need to
do is share your Prom Ambassador card on social media or text it to your friends. When 6 of
your friends rent from Men’s Wearhouse, they each get $50 off of their rental and you earn up
to $250 toward your own or your guest’s rental, purchase, or custom look. For more

Attention Seniors: NEW SCHOLARSHIPS have been added to the literature rack outside of the
Guidance office. Be sure to stop by TODAY to pick up any applications that you are eligible for.
The deadline of March 3 rd is fast approaching! There are several scholarships for students
involved in their community. There are also scholarships for future Educators, Nursing
students, Pediatric Nursing students, those who are accepted at Penn State Altoona for
Mechanical, Civil or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, High School Athletes as well as for
students who have been legally adopted by US citizens.
Are you looking for a summer job? Lakemont Park is hiring! The Park is looking to fill multiple
positions in the following areas: Ride Operators, Food Service, office receptionists, cashiers
and janitorial/grounds. You can apply at the Park Office, on Facebook at
www.facebook.com/lakemontpark, or on February 22nd staff from Lakemont Park will be
setting up a table during lunches to help students apply. Don’t miss out!
Attention Seniors who will be attending Juniata College: If you have an interest in
instrumental music, then be sure to stop by the guidance office and pick up information on
how to apply for one of the many scholarships they are offering.
Attention Seniors interested in agriculture, botany, forestry, floral design and the like: Stop
by the guidance office literature rack to pick up information about scholarships being offered
by the Blair Garden Club. Deadline is April 5 th .
