Jennifer Weidley has joined the school staff as a special education learning support teacher for Algebra I.

Weidley attended Liberty University in Virginia and taught Earth Science in Virginia for five years.

“At first, I wanted to be a health teacher because of an amazing teacher I had. However, in high school I had the opportunity to work with a different school and it was a good opportunity for me to get my foot in the door,” Weidley said.

Although Weidley says that Altoona has done an amazing job adapting to online learning, she says that nothing can replace the face to face interaction between students and teachers.

“Building relationships with students this year is nearly impossible. This year has been the hardest so far with getting to know my kids both inside and outside the classroom,” Weidley said.

Outside of school, Weidley enjoys anything related to the outdoors including running, gardening, camping and kayaking.
