Nicole Hawk is a member of the yearbook staff. Along with her role of helping in the yearbook, Hawk shares her love for soccer by playing for the girls’ soccer team.

Nicole has been interested from a young age and has been playing for eight years. As number three on the field, she plays right and left wing.

“My biggest influence is my dad; he has supported all of my decisions in soccer and academics. He has always been a big supporter at all my games, tournaments and practices,” Hawk said.

Hawk plays for both our Altoona girls’ soccer team and a Pittsburgh club team called Century. She wishes to keep playing and go on to achieve great things. Hawk’s hard work on the field paid off after winning Districts her freshman year.

“My biggest accomplishments have been winning Districts my freshman year and going to the playoffs in California for Century,” Hawk said.

Soccer is something that has a huge impact on Hawk. She spends a lot of her time putting in effort on and off the field. She wishes to have a future with her sport and keep her academics straight which has always been important to her.

“I plan on playing soccer in college and hopefully at Duquesne, Pitt or Penn State main campus. Those are my dream schools to play soccer and majoring in pharmacy,” Hawk said.

Hawk shares a passion with her teammates, and they bond over the sport. Her team works well together and is there for each other. After having to overcome four sprained ankles, Hawk was scared to miss out on one of the team’s biggest tournaments.

“I have overcome four sprained ankles. They were all challenging and had a mental and physical setback on me. It was very tough for me to fully get back into soccer and to play 100% again. The fear of spraining my ankle has always been in the back of my head, and I have almost missed huge tournaments my team needed me in,” Hawk said.

Even with a majority of Hawk’s time devoted to soccer, she is still committed to her job on the yearbook staff and her role as third-year wrestling team manager.
