Softball continues as family tradition

Senior Madison Zimmerer is a softball player. This March will be the start of the softball season. Zimmerer has been playing softball since second grade, and since then softball has become a passion for her.

Zimmerer’s mom, gram and aunt all played softball which inspired her to play. She loves playing second base or pitcher.

According to the Logan City Softball Association, “Softball is an activity that requires multiple skills, and therefore provides total body conditioning. Research shows that you can reap mental health advantages from playing sports, too. Whether you like the single-minded focus”.

Stress and anxiety are very common mental illnesses but Zimmerer believes softball conquers those emotions.

“Deep down I’m nervous, but on the outside I’m calm and excited,” Zimmerer said.

According to IES National Center of Education Statistics (NCES), “In 2019, 15 percent of female students reported having been in a physical fight”.

Drama, arguments  and problems are all stepping stones in life.

“Let it go,” Zimmerer said.

After high school she will not keep playing softball;  she learned many valuable  lessons on hard work and her goals in life. Zimmer  gives advice to those who want to start softball and who have been playing.

“Don’t stop trying, even if you fail, even if you mess up, always keep going,” Zimmerer said.
