Every year, freshman, sophomore and juniors take the Keystone tests. With Keystones scheduled to begin in May, students are starting to prepare.

Along with most freshmen, it’s Mia Curfman’s first time taking the test. Since she is taking the Algebra I and Biology Keystones, she will take time to study over the next few months.

The overall plan for testing has yet to be determined. Therefore, students don’t know the exact window for their testing yet. Most students have already begun studying in order to do well.  Since freshmen have two different subjects to prepare for, they find various ways to study.

“Everyday, I study small amounts of both math and bio to cover everything by the time Keystones begin. I go over old worksheets and create note cards,” Curfman said.

Studying is not just limited to worksheets and note cards. Every student has their own way of studying. Many students also study together and help one another.

“Some of my friends and I create Quizlet flashcards or Kahoots to study. We study each overall topic to cover everything more quickly,” sophomore Leiya Resig said.

Though not every student studies months prior, some are able to retain memory easier when studying only a few weeks beforehand. Resig is faithful that she will do well but is nervous due to all the small details in biology.

“I’m going to spend the next few months preparing, but I know I will be nervous at that moment. But, no matter the outcome, I will be happy to know I tried my best,” Curfman said.
