Announcements for 9/13

Attention students: There will be an Earthkeepers Club meeting today at 2:45 to 3:15 in A303.
We will be electing officers and discussing homecoming along with other upcoming events.
Please consider joining if you enjoy nature, hunting, fishing, plants and conservation of our
resources!! All students are welcome.

Attention all students: Are you passionate about the law, public speaking, or problem-
solving? If so, the Mock Trial team might be the place for you. Mock Trial is a competition in
which students act out a civil or criminal trial. Students argue for either the prosecution or
defense while playing the roles of lawyers or witnesses. If you are interested, the team is
holding its first organizational meeting this Wednesday from 3-4 PM in Mrs. Negri’s classroom,
B311. We hope to see you there!

Attention FBLA members and students interested in joining FBLA: If you missed the first
meeting, it’s not too late to join. The second FBLA meeting of the year will be held in
Mr. King’s room, B126, this Thursday, September 15 th at 2:45. All current and perspective
members are needed in attendance. Club officers, dues and fundraising are the main topics.

Attention Freshmen: Do you have an 85% or higher GPA? Do you have a 90% or higher
attendance record? Do you have a strong work ethic and positive school behavior? Will you be
one of the first in your family to attend college? If so, SOAR may be for you! The SOAR
program will be accepting applications for 9th-grade students only. ONLY 10 students will be
selected for the program. If you are selected, you will be provided a mentor to help guide you
through high school and help you achieve your goal of post-secondary education. If you stay in
the program and fulfill all of the requirements, you will also be rewarded with up to $7500 of
financial assistance. Please stop in B120 to pick up an application and for more information. All
applications are due by Friday, September 23 rd .

Attention Seniors: It’s time for area colleges to start visiting our high school to highlight their
universities and what they have to offer. On Thursday, September 15 th , a representative from
St. Francis College will be set up near the cafeteria, and Friday, September 16 th , a
representative from Gannon University will be here. Please stop by the table near the
cafeterias for more information from these colleges.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Financial Aid Night will be taking place on Tuesday,
September 20, at 6:00 in A225. Junior and senior parents and students are invited to
attend to gain valuable information on the financial aid process. Our PHEAA
representative will be providing an understanding of the financial decisions students
and families need to make concerning higher education. Topics to be discussed
include higher education costs, tools and resources, types of financial aid available,
and how to apply for financial aid. We hope to see you there!
