Announcements for 9/15/2023

A reminder to all students:  You MUST wear your lanyard around your neck all day, every day. ALSO, ear buds are NEVER permitted to be worn and cell phones MUST be in lockers.

Attention Junior Academy of Science Club Members: Our first club meeting will be held right after school on Tuesday 9/19 in the Library.  New people, just show up!  We will be electing officers and planning for the year, so make every effort to attend.  Think Science!

Games Club and Computer Club will have their first meeting of the year in room B109 today after school until 4:30 PM.  If you are interested, please join the Google Classroom with code my6lemb or just show up!

Attention Students:  Do you need help with your math homework?  Or, someone to help with a science or social studies assignment?  If so, beginning on Monday, September 18th, the members of the National Honor Society will be offering FREE after-school peer tutoring each week, Monday through Thursday, from 2:45 – 3:45 in the AAHS library.  You do not need to sign up or pre-register.  This is drop-in style tutoring.  Please make sure to bring all materials necessary to help with specific assignments including notes, books, and calculators.  Please remember that this is not a “hang-out”.  Only students seeking academic tutoring are permitted.

Do you like helping people while having fun?  If you do, Key Club is for you!  First meeting is Monday, September 18th at 2:45 PM in Room A210.  Bring a friend!

Google Classroom code is: hgw6hi2

Attention Seniors:  If you are seeking scholarship opportunities, then you will want to stop by the literature rack outside of the Guidance Office to pick up a flyer entitled “Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship.”  Online applications are being accepted through November 13th.  They are offering 500 four-year awards, 20 awards worth $30,000 and 480 awards worth $4,000.  The only requirements are that you are a current high school senior and are a United States citizen.

Attention Juniors and Seniors:  Worried about how to pay for college?  A PHEAA representative will be at AAHS Monday September 18th at 6:00pm to explain funding sources such as grants, loans, and scholarships and answer any questions you and your parents may have.  Hope to see you there!
