ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2023

CONGRATULATIONS to the Scholastic Scrimmage team who finished their season undefeated at 14-0. They performed impressively in the Fall Quiz League this season, beating their opponents in each match-up by an average of 120 points. Wish the team good luck as they compete next week as the first seed in the District Championship. Team members are Captain Jacob Ceglar, Grace Hovan, Warren Leberfinger, Ryan Longstreth, Connor Matosziuk, Luke Mitchell, Mira Sparacino, Logan Walter, Rosemary Wei, and Jake Yohn.

Attention 9th grade male basketball players: There will be an open gym workout for any 9th grade male students interested in playing basketball Wednesday,
October 25, from 4:30-6:00 in the junior high gym. If you are playing a Fall sport, you are not allowed to participate. This is only for freshman male basketball players.

Attention Junior Academy of Science Club Members! We will meet today from 2:50 – 3:20pm in order to register online for Saint Francis U’s STEAM Day & pick the seminars you’ll attend. Bring your Chromebooks. If you can’t make the meeting, see Mr. B. Think Science!

The boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams traveled to White Oak Park in Pittsburgh on Thursday to participate in the Tri-States Championships. In a very competitive field of 25 schools, the boys finished 7th overall while the girls finished 11th. The boys were led by Cam Woomer, who finished in the top 24 of the race. He was followed by Kody Webster, Andrew Quinn and Chris Fox. On the girls’ side, Ashlyn Noce was 17th overall and took home the only medal of the day for Altoona. She was followed by Lana Luke, Josie Ciccarella and Gianna Fiore. Come on out to Logan Elementary after school today to cheer on our runners as they participate in the last home meet of the season as they compete in Blair County Day starting at 4:30.

Attention FBLA members: There will be a meeting in Mr. King’s room, B126, tomorrow, October 24th at 2:45. All members are expected to attend the meeting in order to sign up for competitive events and studying procedures. If you don’t attend, be sure to at least complete Event form in the FBLA Google Classroom.

Attention Seniors: Students are reminded to go to jostens.com to order their custom graduation announcements, senior gear, keepsakes, and cap & gown by Thursday, October 26th. Any senior interested in picking up a Jostens Senior Packet, please pick one up outside of B120. All of the same packet information can be found on the Jostens website. Please check your email for more details.
