Going for the win. Senior Nathan Lutz plays in the turkey bowl with his team. His team Tom & Joes Turkeys went to the championship vs. The Hot Hens.

Tackle football is a big part of the school. The band, the student section, cheerleaders and Lioneers all participate to make the football games the best they can be. There is another way people can still play football with friends. Flag football is an amazing way to play football without the high chance of injury.

Coming up soon will be the perfect opportunity to play in the Turkey Bowl.  For the third year, junior and seniors can organize teams and head to the field the week of Thanksgiving.

Anyone can play flag football no matter the size. Whether you’re five  feet 90 pounds or seven foot 280 pounds anyone can play. The best part about flag football is playing any any position on offense or defense.

Two teams made up of five to eight  players compete to move the ball down the field and across the goal line. The team with the most points at the end of regulation wins. A touchdown is worth six points with a chance to gain more points. Players could get one  point from the third yard line and two  points from the 10 yard line.

Shirts must be tucked in, and they are not allowed to hang down over the flag belt. If a player loses their flag belt legally or illegally during a down and gains possession of a live ball, that player is considered down if they are touched with one hand by a defender.

Go grab some friends and try to win.

My name is Eric Weyant. I am a sophomore on the Mountain Echo and Horseshoe staff. I am a bass drummer in the band. When I'm not drumming, I'm playing basketball or cornhole. I'm very good at cornhole. In my first tournament, I placed in the top 5. I like playing with my family in Claysburg, and we enter tournaments together. I'm excited to tell you what's going on in the school this year.
