A:  “I plan to fulfill my Homecoming royalty responsibilities by being a positive role model for my classmates and showing school spirit in everything I do. Whether it’s leading cheers, volunteering for activities, or simply encouraging kindness, I want to represent our school with pride and make this Homecoming memorable for everyone.”

A: “I am here to just have a fun week, and I am okay with what the outcome is no matter what. I will be happy for whoever places and wins no matter what. I am just running to have a good time but also to be a little bit competitive.”

A: “I plan to work ahead as much as I can and stay on top of everything, especially since I am cyber, which makes it a little bit harder to do some things.”

A: “I love the theme days. The whole school can participate in this, you get to see how creative everyone is and it makes everyone excited for the upcoming week.”

A: “I am very excited and also extremely grateful to even be nominated. I just want to have fun with this experience and make it memorable not only for my team but all participating.”

A: “I decided to run for Homecoming because I love to be involved in different school activities. I want everyone to take my school spirit energy and join me, so we can all become a whole. Connecting and uplifting people is one of my favorite things. This opportunity gives me a way to do that on a larger scale.”

A: “I hope this opportunity helps bring awareness to the incredible charities supported by each candidate. I’m proud to represent Jenny Harkins in her fight against cancer, and I hope that by running for Homecoming, I can help support her journey and make a meaningful difference.”

A: “I’m really excited to be running for Homecoming. Running has been something I’ve thought about doing for a long time now, I would say since junior high. There’s a lot that goes into it but it’s definitely going to be a memorable experience.”

A: “I believe I can represent the student body as a whole well. Throughout my time in high school, I’ve participated in numerous clubs and activities — especially within the music department. I do my best to be a good student and role model and foster school spirit and pride by performing and leading the silks in our marching band. I am responsible and will always do my best to strive to be the best student and person I can be.”

A: “My favorite part of Homecoming week would have to be the theme days. Every year, the themes are always so enjoyable to participate in. I love going to school on those days and seeing how many people dress up for themes and just have fun with them. The theme days really bring a lot of students together and closer as a community, and that’s why I love them.”

A: “I’m really really nervous about running, but I’m mostly excited. I’m looking forward to Homecoming week and events. Homecoming has been an amazing part of my high school experience, and I’m glad I can really be involved in it this year. Being a Homecoming candidate can be a big responsibility, but I am really looking forward to it in my final year.”

A: “My friends and my silk squad. While I was originally unsure whether or not I should run, my friends convinced me to in the end. I want to be a candidate for my team; I want to really represent my team as best as I can because they mean so much to me. I want to give back and support them because of all the times they have supported and uplifted me. Running as a Homecoming candidate is such an honor, and I decided to do this for them.”

A: “Really enjoy Homecoming week. Take your time to really just live in the moment and participate in the school days, Homecoming events and all the good that comes with it. Homecoming is one of the best parts of our school year, so let yourself experience it.”

A: “The best part of Homecoming week is the charity donations, in my opinion. Giving something to those that may be less fortunate is a noble cause, and I’m excited to be able to make a difference in the community. Concerning the Homecoming week activities, I’m most excited for Games Night to see everybody’s skits.”

A: “I’m excited for Homecoming week with all of the activities, and I hope to have a blast with everyone on the court and my team.”

A: “I decided to run for Homecoming because I wasn’t on a Homecoming team in previous years and because I wanted to participate in the senior year activities. I figured, why not represent the club and subjects I love while I’m having fun?”

A: “I’d like voters to know that science holds a special place in everybody’s life; you just have to be cognizant and know where to look to find it.”

A: “Last year was my very first year at Altoona High. I was able to win the vote for drama club Homecoming candidate (along with drama club vice president) after only having a single school year to build connections and form relationships. I think that speaks volumes for the type of person I am and my ability to connect with people.”

A: “I am so excited for everyone to get to see my skit during Games Night. My team and I had the most enjoyable time filming it! It’s silly and theatrical and screams theatre kids in the best way possible.”

A: “I am thrilled to be running for Homecoming. It’s more than just the actual competition. It’s a whole week of fun with your friends. I can’t wait to dress up for the theme days, participate in Games Night, attend the dance with my friends.”

A: “Running for Homecoming is such a childhood fantasy. We all grew up seeing it in movies and TV shows. I was happy to take an opportunity to live out some childhood wonder before I graduate and become an adult.”

A: “Though I am ‘representing’ drama club, I truly feel that I represent a much broader demographic of students. I have given so much of my life and my heart to theatre, but I am so much more than just a theatre kid. I have been an athlete. I currently play rugby and have played many other sports throughout my life. I’ve been a dancer since I was two. I’m a student. But most importantly, I’m a friend to so so many. Every single person that I have formed some sort of relationship with throughout high school is also running alongside me. I represent all of them.”

A: “I will continue to maintain the same level of responsibility and approachability that I have up until this point. I am a friend to all and will continue to treat people with kindness and understanding.”

A: “I believe that people should vote for me because I am very involved. I put a lot of my time and effort into the school and community while being a part of many things in AAHS. A: “I think the best part is teams coming together to make the skits and dress up for theme week. The whole experience is fun in itself, even if it can be a bit stressful.”

Q: How do you feel about running for Homecoming?

A: “I only ever wanted to be on a Homecoming team, to be honest. I had a few people talk me into actually running, and now that I am, it is exciting. Everything about it is so fun and to be able to represent SOAR is amazing.”

Q: What made you decide to run for Homecoming?

A: “Mainly the fact that it’s my senior year and many people told me I should consider it. I also have a lot of support and groups I’m in that I could run for, so the opportunity kept presenting itself to me. I believe that running for SOAR is an amazing opportunity and I couldn’t pass it up.”

Q: Is there anything you want voters to know? 

A: “I think that everyone should know that Homecoming is a fun time, but it can be stressful too, especially for the running candidates and even the team members. It takes a lot to come together and get it all done. I think everyone should keep in mind the effort it takes from not only the candidates but from Mrs. Matteson and the homecoming committee as well.”

A: “I plan to demonstrate my leadership skills and always stay on top of things. I will continue to be a positive role model and always be present and outgoing in everything I do.”

A: “I have been on Mountain Echo staff for all four years of high school, and it holds a very special place in my heart. I always knew that if I wanted to be a Homecoming candidate, I would want to do so for Mountain Echo, in an attempt to give back to the publication that has always been there for me. When the opportunity came up, I jumped on it.”

A: “During Homecoming week,  my goal is to represent myself, my team, the Mountain Echo and my school well. Mountain Echo is an integral part of our high school, serving as an important communication tool, and I would like other students to learn more about what we do and possibly get involved in the organization in the future.”

A: “I will stay on top of my duties, work with my team, make sure that myself and others maintain a positive outlook on Homecoming and do my part to make sure that Homecoming remains a strong tradition and garners a sense of pride amongst students, faculty and administration.”
