On Aug. 23, 2024 Sabrina Carpenter released her album “Short n’ Sweet.” The album had eight nominations at the 67th Grammys, and out of these eight nominations, won two. Carpenter won for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Espresso,” which is part of this album. I will be rating these songs from 1-10.
- ”Taste”
Rating: 8/10
Favorite Line: “He’s funny now, all his jokes hit different / Guess who he learned that from?”
A good, catchy song. Listen to this when looking to have a good time, this is a very fun song that makes your day better.
- ”Please Please Please”
Rating: 7/10
Favorite Line: “I know I have good judgment / I know I have good taste / It’s funny and it’s ironic that only I feel that way.”
The lyrics are very repetitive. It repeats the lyrics ¨Please, please, please¨ a lot, so the song gets kind of boring. This song was not needed on this album.
- ”Good Graces”
Rating: 9/10
Favorite Line: “‘Cause no one’s more amazin’.”
The beat is fun and it has good lyrics. This song is very popular for a good reason. It is a very likeful song.
- ”Sharpest Tool”
Rating: 9/10
Favorite Line: “We were goin’ right, then you took a left / Left me with a lot of stuff to second-guess.”
It is slower than most of Carpenter’s songs, so it shows variation. This song is good for when you want a chill song.
- ”Coincidence”
Rating: 6/10
Favorite Line: “And you’ve lost all your common sense / What a coincidence.”
It is not my favorite. It could be way better. The beat kind of seems awkward. It doesn’t really work with the lyrics.
- ”Bed Chem”
Rating: 7/10
Favorite Line: “And what are the odds? You send me a text.”
It is good, but not my favorite. It is also a little bit repetitive. This song would be way better if it was not as repetitive. The lyrics are good but they are all the same.
- ”Espresso”
Rating: 8/10
Favorite Line: “My twisted humor, make him laugh so often.”
It is very catchy, fun and upbeat. This song is the type of song to get stuck in your head.
- ”Dumb & Poetic”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Line: “’Love everyone,’ is your favorite quotation.”
It is a lot different then Carpenter’s usual songs and I like that because it gets boring listening to songs that all sound the same.
- ”Slim Pickens”
Rating: 9/10
Favorite Line: “This boy doesn’t even know the difference between ‘there,’ ‘their’ and ‘they are.’”
I think the lyrics are very good and creative. Also the beat is good, and this song is very unique.
- ”Juno”
Rating: 8/10
Favorite Line: “You make me wanna make you fall in love.”
It is very fun to listen to but the lyrics are repetitive. A lot of Carpenter’s songs are very repetitive. So, the album could do without this song.
- ”Lie to girls”
Rating:7/10
Favorite Line: “You don’t have to lie to girls / If they like you, they’ll just lie to themselves.”
The lyrics could be better, but the song is still okay. It’s not her best but it’s not the worst. It does sound a lot different then Carpenters usual songs.
- ”Don’t Smile”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Line: “Don’t smile because it happened, baby, cry because it’s over.”
This is the best song on this album. The lyrics are very good and everything in this song just works together very well. It is also different from her usual songs.
