Conan Gray’s career has reached a new peak with his latest album “Wishbone.” It topped the Billboard Hot 200, earned eight Grammy nominations, and wrapped up a successful U.S. tour. With this momentum, this article takes a deep dive into his entire discography by reviewing each project, rating them, and selecting the top three standout songs from every release. Gray has put out one EP and four studio albums, all of which will be explored here.
“Sunset Season” – 8.5/10

“Sunset Season,” is Gray’s debut EP and was released in 2018. The five-track project set the foundation for everything he would later do in his career. This is a very impressive debut and definitely still holds up as one of his most cohesive works. It has a very clear artistic vision, and the whole EP feels like the soundtrack to a coming of age movie. The lyrics, though, are definitely less advanced compared to his other works.
First Place: “Greek God”
Rating: 8.5/10
Favorite Lyric: ”I don’t mind when you play with my head / I flip around, play with yours instead”
Second Place: “Generation Why”
Rating: 8/10
Favorite Lyric: “This town don’t got much to do / And you and I haven’t got much to lose”
Third Place: “Crush Culture”
Rating: 8/10
Favorite Lyric: “I don’t want to participate in your game of manipulation”
“Kid Krow” – 9.5/10

“Kid Krow” is Gray’s first studio album and was released in 2020. The emotion and songwriting feel incredibly real, and it’s clear Gray put his heart into every track. Songs like “Heather,” “Wish You Were Sober,” “The Cut That Always Bleeds” and “Maniac” are among his most recognizable tracks and all come from this album. With sharp lyrics and unforgettable melodies, “Kid Krow” is a true piece of art. The talent showcased here, combined with the strong sense of nostalgia from this era, make it one of my favorite albums ever.
First Place: “Fight or Flight”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Lyric: “Fight or flight, I’d rather lie / Than tell you I’m in love with you”
Second Place: “Checkmate”
Rating: 9/10
Favorite Lyric: “Yeah, you may think you’re winning this heartbreak / But you aren’t gonna win it, ‘cause checkmate”
Third Place: “Comfort Crowd”
Rating: 9/10
Favorite Lyric: “Telling you ‘I’m fine I don’t really need nobody’ / But you say through a sigh / That I said that lie already”

“Superache”- 9.5/10
“Superache” is Gray’s second studio album and was released in 2022. This is by far his most personal and vulnerable album to date. I love every single song on it. The lyrics are raw, honest and deeply emotional. But it’s also so heartbreaking I rarely find myself able to listen to it all the way through without feeling upset. The sadness woven throughout makes it such a powerful and heavy experience.
First Place: “Memories”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Lyric: “You see, it’s hard to find an end to something that you keep beginning / Over and over again”
Second Place: “Family Line”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Lyric: “Oh, all that I did to try to undo it / All of my pain and all your excuses”
Third Place: “Jigsaw”
Rating: 9/10
Favorite Lyric: “I’ve changed every part of me / Until the puzzle pieces aren’t me at all”

“Found Heaven” – 9/10
“Found Heaven” is Gray’s third studio album and was released in 2024. The album offers a unique and refreshing sound for Gray that stands out in his discography. This project introduced 80s- inspired beats that, honestly, aren’t usually my style. However, Gray pulls it off so effortlessly that I actually quite enjoy it. The standout for me is “Alley Rose,” which I would say is my favorite song he has ever written. The album as a whole is emotional and beautifully crafted. The fact that Gray can make such a drastic sonic shift always leaves me in awe.
First Place: “Alley Rose”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Lyric: “I ran my fingers through your hair / And I thanked God to touch the flame”
Second Place: “Bourgeoisieses”
Rating: 8.5/10
Favorite Lyric: “The men at war, they draft the poor / No time to mourn, I’m on the dance floor”
Third Place: “Winner”
Rating: 8/10
Favorite Lyric: “How do I somehow feel guilty / When you’re the one who let it get this bad?”

“Wishbone” – 10/10
“Wishbone” is Gray’s fourth studio album and was released in 2025. I don’t think I’ve ever connected with a project more; I even bought a $200 record player just to hear it more clearly on vinyl, and I have played it at least four times a day ever since. There is not a single skip on the album. Every track feels intentional and is lyrically rich. Seeing Gray perform it live in Pittsburgh a month ago was genuinely life-changing. Choosing my top three songs felt impossible because every track deserves to be on that list.
First Place: “My World”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Lyric: “It’s my world and it’s my life / It’s my girl and it’s my guy / I’ll kiss ‘em if I might like”
Second Place: “Caramel”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Lyric: “And the longer burn, the sweeter that you smell”
Third Place: “Actor”
Rating: 10/10
Favorite Lyric: “You’re saving your face, but you take it out on your nose”
