On Jan. 16 2026 aid Brian Miller will release his third poetry book. The book, “Suncatcher,” explores themes relating to Miller’s memories and faith. Books are currently in presales.
Q: What made you want to write this book?
A: “It’s my third poetry book. I took poetry classes in college, so I just continued with it after I graduated.”
Q: Are you coming out with any other books?
A: “I do have a memoir that was published in 2021, [and] three of my poetry books were published by Finishing Line Press.”
Q: What is the book about?
A: “[The book] starts out [with] stuff that we can relate to like love poems, poems about faith [and] poems about memories.”
Q: What made you have the name of a “Suncatcher”? Did it have a meaning to you?
A: “It’s the first poem because the sun catcher reflects some stuff. So we’ve reflected a lot of poems that deal with light to one poem about bioluminescence, light and bugs glow, how that triggers love memory. And then, the “Bead Master” is for you to look through and see slides. There’s a poem called 1988 where it’s like a View Master, and you’re seeing snapshots of that year in your childhood. I like that.”
Q: How do you feel about your book?
A: “[It’s] more reflective than my previous ones.”
Q: Why did you want to become a writer?
A: “I was always reflective as a child, and I was always quiet, so I got all my journals from high school, so that helped me with writings.”
Q: What are your goals?
A: “To be successful.”
Q: What is the publishing process?
A: “First I submit my manuscript and then it’s accepted in February. It takes a while for everything to get organized, and then the pre-sale started Sept. 15. It runs through Nov. 21; during that time [the book is] supposed to make as many pre-sales as possible.”
Q: Anything you want to add?
A: “[If] anyone is interested in the pre-ordering, just go to the link.”
