Horseshoe Editor-in-Chief Noah DiVentura ended up having to face perseverance on the basketball court as he struggled with confidence and worked to overcome those struggles in basketball.
Q: What made you interested in basketball?
A: “My mom always played basketball, so I was always around it when I was little, and I decided to sign up one year.”
Q: How old were you when you found out you liked basketball?
A: “I started playing recreationally in fifth grade, but I really started to enjoy it come middle school.”
Q: In your opinion, what makes a good basketball player?
A: “Someone that can do what they are supposed to do very well.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about basketball and why?
A: “I just really enjoy working out, it’s a good way to get cardio in.”
Q: Who do you look up to in basketball?
A: “I look up to Derek Rose because he is a very hardworking player.”
Q: What impact did basketball have on your life?
A: “My pap was always a big supporter of my life, and he supported me playing basketball, which was really nice.”
Q: If you could play one on one with any player, who would that be and why?
A: “Derek Rose. He was my favorite player when I was younger.”
Q: What is the biggest challenge you faced in basketball, and how did you overcome it?
A: “Confidence was the biggest challenge I faced. I overcame it by knowing the hard work I put in.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five years as a basketball player?
A: “I stopped playing for the school and everything, so I’ll probably be playing recreationally, maybe intramural in college.”
Q: How do you want people to remember you as a basketball player?
A: “Someone who had fun.”
