Between deadlines, photoshoots and last-minute edits, Audrey Douglas has learned that being in yearbook isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about capturing memories that last forever.
Q: What made you want to do yearbook?
A: “I like the environment and how everyone just bonds, and that bond stays for years because the same people are there. It’s also about design, and I like designing stuff.”
Q: What’s the most rewarding part of working on the yearbook so far?
A: “Mostly bonding with people; we all help each other out. There’s not one person that’s mean there, and everyone just helps each other out.”
Q: What’s a skill you’ve developed from yearbook that you’ll use in the future?
A: “Not being nervous when I talk to people. Before I was very nervous to ask [questions], but now I feel I’m more confident with people, and I feel like I have more confidence.”
Q: How do you make sure everyone at school feels represented in the yearbook?
A: “I’m trying to get everyone in it, not just my friends, so they have memories, and they’ll remember that.”
Q: How do you decide which moments or stories deserve to be featured in the yearbook?
A: “I feel that if it’s a memory, if I’m just taking a photo of someone that doesn’t mean anything, but, if there’s a backstory, I think that’s what it means. When you look at that photo and you’re like, ‘Yeah, I remember that.’”
Q: What’s a goal you’re currently working towards in yearbook?
A: “Getting my work done on time and doing it because I’ll get one thing done and then three more things come, and then I can’t get that done, and then it just keeps adding on.”
Q: What’s something you learned about teamwork from being in yearbook?
A: “Helping people out.”
Q: How do you want people to feel when they look back at this year’s yearbook?
A: “I want them to remember those moments, and not feel sad, but remember every moment of what was last year.”
Q: What’s been your favorite memory or funniest moment while in yearbook?
A: “When we made our superhero sticks, because I couldn’t do it right. My neck came out really long, and everyone was laughing at it because I couldn’t get it right for three days.”
Q: How do you manage school sports and home life?
A: “Sleeping a lot and just trying to be consistent again on what I do, and try not to get off track because then it takes me a while to get back up.”
Q: How do you prepare yourself for the upcoming softball season?
A: “I get all my work done, and I try to be on the same track. I try to keep up with my work, and I try to be consistent with that. So when softball season comes, it’s kind of natural.”
Q: What has been your favorite experience playing softball?
A: “My friends. They’re a big impact on why I play. If my friends weren’t there, I don’t think I would want to play. They just make it so much more fun.”
Q: What’s something you wish more people knew about you?
A: “That I’m nice because most people are scared of me, and I don’t know why.”
