During winter break, students spent their time in a variety of ways: traveling to new places, relaxing at home and reconnecting with family and friends. The break, lasting from Dec. 23-Jan. 5, gave students a chance to step away from school responsibilities and focus on rest, personal activities and time with loved ones.
Freshman Kendyl Carney spent her break in Sarasota, Fla.
“I love going to the beach because I get to tan,” Carney said.
Senior Natalie Etters visited family in Florida.
“I liked this break because I got to be with my family during the holidays,” Etters said.
Freshman Reagan Resig spent time with family and friends, opened gifts and had a good time.
“I love winter break because it’s during my two favorite holidays: Christmas and New Year’s Eve,” Resig said.
Sophomore Levi Butler slept and went out to eat with his dad.
”I spent a lot of quality time with my dad, so I really enjoyed that,” Butler said.
Freshman Westley Zitsch went to his grandparents’ house and hung out with friends.
“I always go to my grandparents’ house on Christmas, and it’s really nice to just see my family,” Zitsch said.
Junior Skylar Verilla hung out with friends and had cheer practice.
“I like winter break because I just get a break and get to relax and not worry about school for a little,” Verilla said.
Freshman Carter Gibson went to a Steelers game and hung out with friends and family.
“The Steelers game was cold, but it was really fun,” Gibson said.
Sophomore Marissa Kanouff went to the Grand Cayman Islands and explored them on New Year’s; her and her family went to the beach and watched fireworks.
¨I even kissed a stingray for seven years of good luck. Let’s hope it works,¨ Kanouff said.
Overall, winter break offered students a pause from their academic routines and a chance to recharge in different ways. Whether traveling, spending time with family, relaxing at home or enjoying special experiences, students valued the opportunity to step away from school and focus on what mattered most to them. As classes resumed in January, many returned feeling refreshed, reconnected and ready to take on the rest of the school year.
