On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched attacks against Iran due to claims that they are developing nuclear weapons. During these attacks, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed.
Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School was hit during these attacks, resulting in as many as 170 deaths. There is no reason for something like this to ever happen. Targeting civilians, let alone children, is a cowardly move that accomplishes nothing of importance during conflicts. Even if this incident was an accident, the United States and Israel should be held accountable for what they did.
As of Mar 10, the death toll in Iran alone has reached over 1200. This has only happened over a week and a half and it’s deeply concerning. Considering what Israel has done in other countries, such as Palestine, this death toll may, unfortunately, rise even more in the future. It feels like both the United States and Israel have become increasingly aggressive towards Middle Eastern countries in recent years, and it’s something that needs to be recognized more by the public.
Iran isn’t the only country being targeted by the US and Israel, as Lebanon has also faced attacks recently. These attacks are happening due to Hezbollah, an Iranian backed military group being in Lebanon. Israel has used this as an excuse to target the people of Lebanon as well, resulting in over 400 deaths and 600,000 people being displaced. It’s disgusting that the people of Lebanon are dying and being forced to evacuate their homes simply because of one group.
Time and time again in history, it’s been shown that staying quiet about the suffering of others has always led to it worsening. If other nations simply sit by and let this happen, thousands of innocent people will lose their lives and nothing will improve. War is sometimes necessary, but it should always be a last resort. When it does eventually get to that point deaths should try to be minimized and civilians should never be targeted. It’s terrible that we live in a world where something like this has to be stated instead of it just being common sense.

Although I don’t support the war either, you should not spread information that isn’t a fact. The article you sited stated “A preliminary U.S. assessment suggests that the United States was “likely” responsible for the deadly attack”; Iran claimed the U.S did, Israel said they didn’t, and so did U.S officials. The 1200 deaths pale in comparison to the 30,000 Palestinians killed for protesting basic rights. Imagine Walking outside your house as a woman in a t-shirt and you get shot in the head. There should be no justification for the killing of Khamenei. He’s practically committed systematic genocide.
