On March 6, it was announced that the area outside of the MLTV studio would no longer be available to seniors for lunch seating.
According to Principal Andrew Neely, this change was implemented by the school administration because of how students were behaving.
“The decision was made due to messes being left and behavioral issues,” Neely said.
Lunch seating was initially allowed outside of the MLTV studio to provide alternative seating for students.
“Were trying to allow students to have an alternate spot for lunch, just a different area that was not in the cafeteria where it can be overstimulating,” Neely said.
Students who want alternate seating due to overstimulation will still be able to request it.
“If they’re requesting alternate seating because of overstimulation, they need to talk to their grade level principal, and we can make arrangements, possibly with places like the library,” Neely said.
According to Neely, this decision will not be permanent, and there’s a possibility that it’s only for this school year.
Seniors have differing opinions about the recent change to their lunch seating.
“It’s really not that big of a deal, there’s the outside tables so there’s more variety on where to sit,” Senior Noah Spahn said.
“I sat there every day, so I think that taking it away is really unfair, especially to the people who didn’t do anything,” senior Mileena Setzer said. “I think the people that made the messes should be the people that should be punished, not the ones who did nothing.”
