At school, students have access to vending machines filled with drinks, but no machines that offer snacks. Staying hydrated is very important, but this can leave students without quick and easy access to food during the school day. Although our school does have a school store that sells snacks and drinks, it is only open first, sixth and eighth period and before and after school. Many students are unable to go when they need something to eat.
In addition, some teachers do not allow students to leave class to visit the school store, which makes it even harder for students to get snacks during the day.
Many students have long and busy schedules filled with classes, extracurricular activities and sports. With such packed days, it is not always possible for students to sit down and eat a full meal. Adding snack vending machines would provide a simple and effective solution to this problem. These machines could offer options like granola bars, crackers, trail mix or other quick and easy snacks. Having access to these foods throughout the day would help students stay energized, focused and ready to learn.
Snack vending machines would be especially helpful for students who stay after school for practices, clubs or events. These students often do not have time to go home and eat before their activities, and the school store is closed by then. By having snack machines available, students would have a convenient way to grab something quickly and keep their energy up.
Overall, having only drink vending machines is not enough to meet students’ needs. By adding snack vending machines, our school could better support student health, improve focus in the classroom and create a more convenient and supportive environment for everyone. This is a practical improvement that would benefit many students and is something the school should seriously consider .It’s an environment that students would greatly appreciate.
