"I, along with much of the Altoona population, strongly dislike the full virtual learning environment. As a senior at Altoona High, it is extremely disappointing the year that we have had so far. Even with the Corona-virus and this awful thing going on, I personally think that there are ways to still do things. Being virtual is awful for not only parents who cannot constantly be there to help their children, but the connections that are extremely important for teachers to make with their students are absolutely not there at all. Teachers and students, to engender a successful year and class, should have the personal connection and relationship that goes beyond seeing their name on a screen. I know that these few months that I have been in this asynchronous/synchronous style and the mere five days that I had face to face have not been all the best, and it is extremely upsetting. Being online for seven hours everyday and getting zero social interaction is detrimental. I am completely against this full virtual style, and I definitely think that better things could have been done and considered for not only Altoona High, but the Altoona School District rather than a full virtual style until February 1," senior Anna Batrus said.
