Announcements for March 4

ATTENTION COLLEGE BOUND JUNIORS:  The deadline to register for the May 8th SAT is
April 8th.  Register now at collegeboard.org.
Anyone interested in playing for the AAHS Boys Tennis Team should see Coach Hovan in Room B214 or by email by Friday, March 5th.  Physical and team information will be provided at that time.
Are you creative?  Do you like to sketch, paint, use a pottery wheel or maybe have an eye for photography?  A student art show in the AAHS Library will soon take place but we need your talent to make it happen.  Please submit your creations to Mrs. Curry in Room B226 by Friday, March 12 to have your pieces displayed for a student senior project and a chance to win a prize.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:  Skyward will be open this week for students to enter classes and electives.  On Friday, Skyward will close and students will not be able to enter any classes.  Please make sure that you have 8 credits entered and at least 5 alternate electives selected.  If this is not done, your counselor will pick classes for you.  See or email your counselor if you have any questions.
ATTENTION 9TH GRADE STUDENTS:  The Altoona Area School District Student Ambassadors represent our school district at many special community events.  Students who have an outgoing and pleasant personality and maintain at least a B grade point average are invited to apply for membership in this 18-member organization.  A fact sheet about the Student Ambassador program and an application form can be picked up in the School Counselors Office or the 9th grade Google Classroom.  Completed application forms must be returned by Friday, April 2 to Mrs. McGinnis in the Counseling Office.
ATTENTION SENIORS:  Krispy Kreme order forms benefitting the 2021 Senior Celebration are available in Mrs. Dumm’s room, B120, and Mrs. Harris’s room, A305.  Order forms and money are due by Friday, March 26th. Doughnuts will be delivered to the school on Monday,
April 12th.  If you sell 5 dozen doughnuts, you will receive a free ticket to the Senior Celebration!  See Mrs. Dumm or Mrs. Harris with questions.
ATTENTION ANY GIRLS INTERESTED IN PLAYING SOFTBALL:  Tryouts start Monday, March 8th from 6:30 – 9:30 PM at W&J Elementary.  Please enter off 4th Street near the loading dock.  If you have any questions, please see Miss Fasolo in A217.
School Picture Info
Missed your Provine picture date?  No problem.  Make up days are this week for all students.  Those attending in person will be called to the auditorium alphabetically March 4 and 5.  Virtual students will be able to come in at their convenience from 12-3 on Thursday or Friday, March 4 or 5.  One evening session will be provided Thursday, March 4 from 5-7 for any student who was unable to attend during school hours.  Make up photos will be taken in the school auditorium.
ATTENTION NINTH GRADERS:  Leadership Blair County Youth is now accepting applications for their next group of 10th graders who want to develop their leadership potential.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office and the 9th grade Counseling Google Classroom (class code zy66dt3).  Check out the details for this wonderful experience on the Blair County Chamber website.
ATTENTION SENIORS:  The application for the Angie Gioiosa Memorial Scholarship is now available.  This application along with the criteria can be found on our website under scholarships.  It is also posted on the senior google classroom.  Hard copies are also available outside the counseling office.  Completed applications can be turned in to the counseling office or to Mr. Adams or Mrs. Quinn.  Deadline is March 22.  Late applications will not be accepted.

Sankey Memorial Scholarship is now available.  This application along with the criteria can be found on our website under scholarships, along with being posted on the senior google classroom.  Hard copies are also available outside the counseling office.  Completed applications can be turned in to the counseling office.  Deadline is April 30.  Late applications will not be accepted.
ATTENTION SENIORS:  Applications are now available in the counseling office for the Lois Depp and Kathleen Myers Scholarship.  To be eligible for this scholarship, you should be in good academic standing and entering an accredited college or university to study music education.  Completed applications must be returned to the counseling office by March 5.  Late applications will not be accepted.
