Boys’ tennis team reflects on season

Along with the start of spring sports, the start of boys’ tennis follows. The boys’ tennis is made up of 19 players.

With tennis, every player’s points also benefit the team.

“In tennis, every player’s point is equally important to the success of the team. Because of this, a point at doubles is just as key to a victory as a point at one singles. The continuing improvement of all of our players is the key to any success that we will enjoy,” assistant coach Mark Sapita said.

The players are looking back on the highlights from the season.

“A highlight from this season is winning the Central Mountain Gob Invitational. We had solid performances from all of our players and several had to step up and contributed key victories to our win,” Sapita said.

Each practice after a game is a focal point for the team, learning to improve on their athletic skills.

“Our practices after a win or a loss will focus on those areas that we need to improve on to be successful. We review what aspects of the game we need to improve upon and focus our attention on those areas each practice,” Sapita said.

The athletes on the team have become closer and formed a bond as a team. With the help of their teammates, they can help each other with wins.

“One reason I like being a part of the tennis team is that I like competing with the boys and going to Sheetz before matches,” senior Noah Boreman said.

Training for their next win isn’t the only thing the players do at practice, they also find a way to have some fun.

“When my teammates and I are at practice, we have competitions against each other for fun,” Boreman said.

The team has had their fair share of winning games and the feeling after playing well doesn’t go away.

“It feels great to play well after putting in all the time and effort at practice,” Boreman said.
