ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2022

Altoona Swim Team split Monday night.  Boys won 120 and Marion Center 43.  Double Winners were Patryck Webster winning the 200 Free and 500 Free, Austin Parker winning the 50 Free and 100 Free, and Trevor Wilson winning the 200 IM and the 100 Breast.  The Girls lost with the score of Altoona 79 and Marion Center 85.  Double Winner was Alexis Fraundorfer in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breast.

ATTENTION JUNIORS TAKING THE SAT THIS SPRING:  Mr. Spayd’s S.A.T. Math Practice Program for the Spring has begun.  Each week a new short Math Practice will be available on Google Classroom.  Week #1 Practice has been downloaded and is ready to be completed.  The Practice will be accompanied by an S.A.T. Attention 9th grade students interested in applying to GACTC for next year:  Do you want to take a program at the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center?  Don’t miss out on this opportunity, as some programs will fill up quickly!  Completing your CTC application before this Friday, January 14, will give you the best chance at getting accepted into the program of your choice.  Please stop in the guidance office to pick up instructions for applying.  Sign up to see your counselor if you have any questions.

Attention Seniors:  Information is now available outside the counseling office for the PHN Foundation Scholarship.  You must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and plan on pursuing a career in a healthcare field.  Application deadline is March 11.

Attention Seniors:  Applications are now available outside the counseling office for the Dick Logan Scholarship.  You must have participated on one or more athletic teams to apply for this scholarship.  Completed applications are due in the counseling office by 3:00 February 28.  LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON.

Attention Seniors:  Applications for the Richard McEldowney Scholarship are now available outside the counseling office.  Your household income must be between $40,000 and $100,000 annually and you must have completed 25 hours of documented community service.  Completed applications can be turned into the counseling office by 3:00 February 28.  LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON.

Attention Seniors:  Applications are now available outside the counseling office for the Robert Hite Memorial Scholarship.  This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has outstanding academic achievement, exemplary citizenship qualities, proven leadership traits and community service through volunteering.  Completed applications can be turned into the counseling office by 3:00 on February 28.  LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON.

Attention Seniors:  Name Verification forms were handed out in your reporting room.  This form must be completed, signed by your parent or guardian and returned to your reporting room teacher by Friday, January 21st.  Also, if you did not place your cap and gown order through Jostens, please complete the information at the bottom of the form.  The diploma and cap and gown orders are being placed at the end of January.  Be sure to return your forms so your items are ordered.
Attention Seniors:  The AAHS Scholarship and the Elementary PTO Scholarship are now available online.  Simply go to the Altoona Area High School page, click on AAHS Links, then click on Scholarships.  Just follow the prompts to fill out the applications.  Deadline for both scholarships is January 31st.  If you have any questions, please stop by the counseling office.
