Fire alarm boxes need plastic shields installed

An fire alarm that doesn’t have a cover over it.

The fire alarm. One of the most annoying sounds in the school. It’s blaring, loud and people tend to go slightly deaf each time it comes on.

Over the past few months we have had three fire drills,  two of which were complete accidents from someone pulling down on the alarm. This is a problem that can be easily corrected simply by putting a clear plastic guard on the outside to prevent accidental fire drills that can cause mass confusion and take away class time from teachers.

The safety of students should be a big concern within the school and a guard on the fire alarms would really benefit the school and allow actual emergencies and drills to take place with an actual cause and not because some kid was doing Fortnite dances and accidentally pulled it down. These guards would be beneficial to the school for several other reasons. The guards would relieve some sort of fear on some students who get afraid when near an alarm because of the accidental pulling of the lever and causing a whole big mess of unwanted attention.

These guards are already on at the junior high so why not at the high school. This way the faculty will know whether or not it was intentional or an accident. The shields would be able to severely reduce the number of unscheduled fire drills within the school day and be a great way for the school to save money and for students to not get fined for accidental alarms.

It would be mostly in-expensive because if the school can afford an new 80 million dollar school then they should be able to afford putting plastic guards on the fire alarms.
