District musicians perform Nov. 19-20

Eleven choral students will attend the PMEA District Chorus: sophomore Emilee DeFrancesco, sophomore Emily Latten, sophomore Wes Lane, junior Makayla Ruggery, junior Jarrett Hann, junior Liam Clyma, junior Samantha Peterson, senior Kierra Moist, senior Raquel Dunio, senior Jakob Kibler and senior Christian Howard. These students spent hours in and out of school preparing for the audition and competed against vocalists from more than twenty other schools.
The annual Voices of Altoona concert, featuring the elementary all-city chorus, junior high vocal ensemble and senior high vocal ensemble is an annual event.
AAHS is hosting the Blair County Chorus festival on Nov. 19 and 20. Students from nine schools will come to Altoona to rehearse together and perform a concert. Brandon Williams, Rutgers University, will guest conduct. The concert is on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. and tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
“Coming soon is our annual holiday concert, and it will be held Friday, Dec. 9 in the high school auditorium. This concert will feature the orchestra, chamber orchestra, and string ensemble. It will also feature our concert chorus, varsity chorus, and vocal ensemble. These groups all come together to perform the opening and closing of our concert. come listen and get into the holiday spirit,” adviser Kelly Sipes said.
