After graduation, senior Abigail Scheinberg plans to attend Juniata College. In this senior blog, Scheinberg discusses her future ambitions.

Q: What college will you be attending?

A: I’ll be attending Juniata College in Huntington.

Q: What are you planning on studying or majoring in?

A: Secondary education [in] social studies.

Q: Why did you decide to go to Juniata?

A: One of my past teachers that I’ve had, Mr. Zolnak, was kind of like an inspiration for me to go on and teach. And a lot of the people that I’ve met from Juniata College are really good. I like the program the college has.

Q: Why do you think this college is the best choice for you? What about the school interests you?

A: I really like how it’s a woody area; it has mountains and that kind of stuff. It’s by Raystown. Huntington is a great town. It’s got a lot of nice food, nice people down there. I just think it’s a really great area that’s not too far from home.

Q: What other colleges were you considering?

A: For a while, I thought about Point Park or Penn State and that kind of stuff, but I wanted to go somewhere that wasn’t really advertised to me. I kind of wanted to search for something that I really liked.

Q: Will you be participating in extracurricular activities or sports?

A: Yeah, I’m going to be playing in their orchestra with Dr. Latten. He’s a great professor and musician.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in college?

A: I think what I’m most looking forward to is the new experience and being able to kind of focus my studies in an area that I really do love.

Q: What is something that intimidates you about college?

A: Definitely the fact that you’re going to  have to live with someone that you don’t know. It’s kind of a new living experience, being away from family and that kind of stuff. It can seem isolating, I think at times, but I think it’s a really good chance to meet new people and gain new experiences.

Q: What do you think will be the biggest change from high school to college?

A: I think it’ll be the kind of classes I’ll be taking and just the different pace of it. At high school, you have the same classes every day. When you go to college, then you have specific classes each day, each time. But I’m excited for that experience.

Q: How do you feel about senior year ending?

A: I’m very excited to move on. But I think it’s a little bittersweet because I’ll be leaving a lot of the people that I have enjoyed my experiences with.
