Snacks on wheels. Students spend the morning walking with the coffee cart to offer drinks and snacks. Students in special education classes and work experience students help with the cart. All students have the opportunity to purchase items.

Starting today, the coffee cart is back in business. Special Education teacher, Travis Young and his students will be wheeling a cart stocked with various food and drink items around the school. In contrast to last year, where the coffee cart was located outside of the broadcasting room, it will now be circling designated floors.

“The progress of the kids is my favorite thing to sit back and watch,” Young said. “There are so many positive interactions. It’s nice to get the general education population to react with our students. It builds social skills and relationships within all of the kids.”

The carts will be around during second, third and fourth period each day. Every item on the cart can be purchased for one dollar. The funds raised will go toward helping the special education children in the school by allowing them to visit local businesses and places in the community.

Megan Shultz, Associate Editor
My name is Megan Shultz, and I am an associate editor on the Mt. Echo staff. Ever since I was young I would spend my free time writing stories for my family. Now, entering my senior year, I still get excited to show them my work. When I'm not reading or writing, I love to dance and hangout with my friends. Once I graduate, I hope to attend Mount Aloysius for their sonography program. Until then, I'm looking forward to my senior year and the awesome memories I will make.
