ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, MARCH 25, 2024

Attention ninth grade students: The Altoona Area School District Student
Ambassadors represent our school district at many special community events. Students
who have an outgoing and pleasant personality and maintain at least a B grade point
average are invited to apply for membership in this 18-member organization.
A fact sheet about the Student Ambassador program and an application form can
be picked up in the School Counselor's Office. Completed application forms must be
returned by Friday, April 5 to Ms. Fischer in the Counseling Office.  If you have
questions please see Mrs. Gardner.

Attention Juniors: If you are interested in being a class officer next year,
applications are still available outside Mrs. Dumm’s room, B120. The deadline for
submission is Thursday, March 28 th . No late applications will be accepted.

Attention Seniors who sold PowerHouse Subs for AfterGlo: Orders will be
delivered this week. Please make necessary arrangements to have all orders picked up
as items are perishable and we have nowhere to store them.

Attention students applying for scholarships: Several deadlines are fast
approaching for a number of scholarships. Those scholarships are as follows: The
Epilepsy Association Scholarship has a deadline of April 1 st ; both the Blair Garden Club
Scholarship as well as the Eldorado Civic Association Scholarship have a deadline of
April 5 th ; if you are applying for the Valley Rural Electric Scholarship, you need to have
your application submitted by April 7 th ; and finally, the DKG Women Educators
Scholarship is due on April 8 th .

Students are reminded that parking is not permitted along 5 th Avenue
between 14 th and 15 th Streets. Violators will be subjected to ticketing.

Attention students: The Black Student Union will be holding an interest meeting on
Tuesday, March 26 th in Mrs. Stephen’s room, A229, right after school at 2:50 PM. The
Black Student Union is a club that was organized and started by students in 2020 to
bring AAHS minority and African American students together as a group. The club’s
mission is to increase acceptance of those who are diverse in the school, celebrate
history, culture and inclusion while educating and giving back to the school and
community in a positive way. If this sounds like something that you’d be interested in,
please consider joining the Black Student Union in A229 after school on Tuesday,
March 26 th .

Attention Seniors: If you are planning a future in any of the many aspects of
Cosmetology, then you will want to stop by the literature rack outside of Guidance
and pick up the Carol Jo Sicheneder Scholarship application, offered through the Salon
Professional Academy, valued at $4,000. The April 1 st application deadline is fast
approaching so do not wait!
