Announcements for 4/15/2024

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2024

ATTENTION STUDENTS: Today is the deadline for making submissions to Et cetera — the school’s Art and Literary magazine. However, if you need another day or two to submit, contact Mrs. Lowe to request more time. Please bring submissions to A213 or email Mrs. Lowe ([email protected]).

MARCH MADNESS UPDATE:
The back half of the Sweet Sixteen featured dominant performances, close calls, and one come-from-behind victory on the back of strong campaign contributions. The Principals put up a good fight in their first tournament appearance, but 3-seed Mr. Palfey advanced from the mini-region, pulling his first upset of the tournament over 2-seed Mr. Neely.
8-seed Alyssa Hetrick is the official #slayqueen of the English Department, and she’ll move on to face everyone’s favorite Bio teacher Mrs. Partsch. Last but not least: the Mrs. Cron Mrs. Palfey contest was a photo finish! Mrs. Cron edged out the popular vote, but based on the strength of record campaign contributions from her loyal students, Mrs. Palfey triumphed in the end! Now you Teens know how real elections are won. This sets up an epic Palfey vs. Palfey Elite Eight showdown for the ages, with only one moving on to the Final Four.
The Elite Eight takes place entirely today, with the Final Four tomorrow!
Now that you see your donations can swing the vote, give generously to your favorite teacher, and the Altoona Food Bank!

This week from April 15th through the 19th (Monday to Friday),
Ms. DeShong’s second period Freshman Seminar class will be fundraising for an animal shelter. Please bring in any toys, food, treats, blankets, or any other animal items on these days. You can drop them off at your homeroom at the beginning of the day. The deadline for all items is this Friday. Please make sure to donate for the animal shelter!

Attention Seniors: There will be a representative here from Shippensburg University on Monday, April 22nd during lunch periods. Be sure to stop by to see what Shippensburg University has to offer college students.

Attention Seniors: Are you planning to attend post-secondary training to become an EMT or Paramedic? The Guidance office has just been presented with a scholarship opportunity for students who are pursuing a career in the emergency medical services field. Currently there is a dire need for emergency service providers not only in our area, but across the country! For more information about this scholarship opportunity, please email our 11th grade counselor, Mrs. Starr, at [email protected]. This opportunity won’t be around long so don’t wait!
