Hard at work. Chorus members rehearse for the annual chorus concert on May 2.

On  May 2, the chorus is holding their spring concert, starting at 7:00 p.m. This will be the second concert of the year, following the winter concert in December.

Throughout the year, everyone involved has put a lot of time and effort into making sure the concert is enjoyable for everyone.

“During the school year, I set learning goals for each week so that students are prepared to perform,” chorus director Kelly Sipes said. “We discuss trying to connect with the audience while singing, not just ‘singing songs.’ I also arrange for an accompanist and instrumentalists, ensure risers are set, put together the program and organize student leaders to help with handing out robes, organizing music, etc. Students also need to put in a lot of effort. They have done a good job trying to analyze their performance in class so they can give the best performance.”

Make sure to support the AASD fine arts department by going to their spring concert.
