On March 3, students that signed up for the field trip to Pittsburgh, will be given the opportunity to tour and learn from speakers at the CORE (Center for Organ Recovery and Education) center. Attending students get to hear from speakers who experienced the loss of loved ones as well as those who were saved due to their organ donations. They will be informed about the details of organ donation and encouraged to sign up to be an organ donor when they are of age.
“It’s a great way for students to get the idea that they are able to save someone’s life with just a signature,” physical education teacher Thomas Palfey said. “We already have 106 students who have decided to sign themselves up for organ donation so it’s a great opportunity.”
Transportation will be provided to students by Fullington Buses and will depart at 7 a.m., arriving back to the school at 3 p.m.
