Girls’ basketball semi-finals postponed

Victory. The girls’ basketball team celebrates their win against Norwin. The team and fans head to Cumberland Valley Friday to try to move into the top 4.

On Monday March 16, the Altoona Area School District sent an email to the student body to inform them that the Girls’ Basketball Semi-Finals has been postponed to Tuesday March 17 at Chambersburg High School. The game will start at 7:30 p.m.

According to the email:

AAHS/AASD Accommodations for students:

  • AAHS provides tickets for first 100 students to have a properly completed and signed permission form (if already turned in, that is still good)
  • Buses will be at the IM Field at 4:15 pm (Chaperones will take attendance/accountability)
  • Buses should pull out NLT 4:45 pm
  • Departure/Arrival back to AAHS: Depart at approx. 9:15-9:30 PM / Arrival at approx. 11:00-11:15 pm
  • AASD/Donors will provide food and beverages (likely pizza) for the trip to the game.

Should the team win the game on March 17, they will be advancing to the Championship Game in Hershey on March 20.

Fireworks. After a day in Magic Kingdom, park goers got to the castle early in order to watch "Happily Ever After," a fireworks show featuring music and scenes from some of the most popular Disney movies.

Happy Holidays. The Orchestra performed during the annual holiday concert on Dec. 12. The String Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, Concert Chorus and Symphonic Orchestra also performed.

My name is Madison Aboud, and this is my fourth year on the Mountain Echo staff. I am honored to serve as Editor in Chief for the 2025 – 2026 school year. In 2023, I did an Editorial Leadership training through CSPA (Columbia Scholastic Press Association). In July 2024, I served as a National Youth Correspondent for the Washington Journalism and Media Conference (WJMC) at George Mason University. When I’m not focused on the Mountain Echo, you can find me reading, spending time with friends and family or hanging out with my dogs. After I graduate, I plan to major in English and minor in Communications. My goal this year is to represent our student body accurately and fairly.
