The new Netflix show “The Circle” pits eight players against each other in a social contest to win a cash prize of $100,000.

It is a social media competition in which these players live in the same building but in different rooms for the remainder of their game.  They upload pictures, a bio and a status every day on “The Circle,” a computer program that resembles a social media platform.  They can also chat in private or group chats and play games with each other.

Every day they rank each other from “most popular to least popular” and the top two most popular have the ability to “block” a player, sending them home.

The social media aspect is shown even more in how anyone can be anyone in the game.  Going into the game you can be yourself or someone completely made-up and be a “catfish.”

This show relates to teenagers because social media has literally been our life for so long.  Although there are some harsh critics of social media in all of its aspects, it is a part of our daily life.  It also shows how on social media platforms, you can be whoever you want to be.

The characters are really favorable and each of them has likability because they all come with their own secrets and backstory.  Especially the ones who are lying the whole time about who they are because it creates a mystery factor in the show because the other players don’t know exactly who they are playing against.  This creates the show even more fun and enjoyable to watch.

Although season one’s finale was just put out, people are already asking when season two is happening.

This reality television show does everything you want reality TV to do and is constantly suspenseful to watch.  It brings together social media and “Survivor” for a binge-worthy show.
