On Thursday, Sept. 24 the golf team finished their season with sectionals at Sinking Valley in Tyrone, placing third out of six teams.

“The Thursday match went really well for me,” senior Scott Lawhead said.

The top 10 golfers at sectionals will go on to district championships. Lawhead placed fourth out of 44 golfers. Districts were held at Scotch Valley in Hollidaysburg on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Scotty Lawhead…played really well at the beginning and was leading the tournament after nine holes. But unfortunately he really struggled on the back nine and fell to sixth place out of 10,” head coach Erik Kozak said.

They ended the season 7-1. They were undefeated up until Monday, Sept. 21, when they suffered their first loss to St. Joseph’s.

I was happy to have the seven victories and for the kids to actually have a season since we were not sure we would get to play because of COVID-19,” Kozak said.

For each match, six players on each team go against each other. The lowest five scores on each team are added up, and the team with the lowest overall score wins. Their home matches took place at Park Hills Country Club.
