The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Sciences (PJAS) regional competition is on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Saint Francis University with early judging for students on Feb. 7.
Senior Warren Leberfinger participated in the competition last year. This year, he is thinking of investigating tension force and how it affects the structure of buildings in cities that are exposed to large, catastrophic events.
“[PJAS] gives you a chance to go and see different colleges, because that’s where competitions are often held. You get to meet new people, you get to hear interesting things that you might not have learned before,” Leberfinger said. “Even if you’re not really interested in science, some of the stuff you learn is really fun.”
