Students in the speech class at the high school are attending the Annual Altoona Rotary Club Speech Competition on March 12 for the Rotary 4-way speech contest. The event will either be held at the Altoona Grand Hotel or the Blair County Convention.

The students attending are senior Alyssa Lansberry, senior Brittney Fouse, senior Desiree Daugherty-Marlett, senior Marissa Kessler, senior Nattie Daversa and sophomore Marie Horell, as well as adviser Heather Tippett-Wertz and student teacher Ms. Schankowitz.

Through this annual contest students get an opportunity to use public speaking skills in a real life situation and have their hard work and accomplishments recognized.

“It is recognition for students who like public speaking. It is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their public speaking skills in a real life scenario, and there is also money involved,” Tippett-Wertz said.
