Most people think that freshman year will be one of the easiest school years, given that it is the first year of high school, but that is simply not true for many reasons.
Going from being the oldest in school to the next year being the youngest is not easy. The change can be very stressful for some because they’re going from being in the same school with 11 and 12-year-olds to going to school with students who can drive and even adults. This can make some feel intimidated by the upperclassmen due to the fact of them being much older.
Another reason would be the academic jump from middle school to high school. Whenever teens move up to high school, the teachers expect more responsibility, a lot more than middle school teachers did. There’s also more homework and harder tests. And while all of this is going on, grades start to actually matter for the future. For example, if someone wants to go to college, those schools will look at high school grades. That’s a big jump going from grades not affecting actual life to the consequence of failing a couple of classes and not graduating.
Freshman year may seem easy to most, but it’s actually a big, stressful change for most students.
