Little kicks her way through high school

Freshman Allison Little has been playing soccer since she could walk. Even through her injuries, Allison trained to be the best player she could be and gained new love for her sport.

“I played for a league called AYSO soccer. It was like really bad soccer,,but it was so much fun. I played my whole life since then,” Little said.

Little has played soccer for multiple different teams including a travel team based in Pittsburgh Pa that was for the top girls in the country.

“I would drive two hours to a practice three days a week then it got to the point where we would fly to games and tournaments,” Little said.

Little went to Milwaukee with her team but quit before they  flew to Florida, Vegas and California.

Little played soccer non stop until one summer tournament when her sacroiliac joint in her back became unstable to the point where she could barely walk.

“The more I tried to play, and I actually played through it for like three months, it got so bad,” Little said.

Little had assumed that in the beginning of her injury if she took a break the pain would just go away. When her freshman year of school soccer started she practiced soccer two times a day and made her pain become worse.

“Two a days started. Two a days are when the school soccer team works out in the mornings and plays soccer every night,” Little said.

Little didn’t let her injury stop her from continuing her soccer career. She got the treatment she needed to get her back on the field.

I went to physical therapy for four weeks,” Little said.

After her four weeks of physical therapy, Little was back on the field and was confident she would use her skill for soccer to get into college after her varsity career.

“I want to use soccer as a way to get into a good college because I think that will definitely help, and I think I am good enough to,” Little said.

Even after Little’s injury, she got playing time in her first varsity game.

Since I’ve been back, I love it and gained new appreciation for the sport,” Little said.

Little is going to continue her soccer career with high school junior varsity and varsity soccer.
