Lets get ready! The 2019-2020 girls’ basketball team get ready before their game. All winter sports have been required to delay their season.

At the Altoona Area High School, a group of young women have a high passion for basketball, but as the cases of COVID-19 increased throughout the state, Governor Tom Wolf decided to delay sports on Dec. 10, 2020 until January 4, 2021.

For the Altoona High as a campus, the safety of the coaches, athletes, spectators and audiences is the most important concern. With that being said, winter sport athletes will hope that Blair County will drop this rule and safely resume athletics.

“They have accepted challenges and restrictions that COVID has hit them with every step of the way. When they have been told that practices and games need to be modified, changed and/or canceled, they did not shut down. Their spirits have remained positive and they found creative ways to work on their skills,” Coach Casey Wilt said.
